About this deal

I’d go out on a limb and say the 440 is one of the most recommended studio headphones on the planet, and certainly should be considering what it has to offer. Rolled off bass with somewhat suppressed treble. Not the worst but far from being tonally balanced. Consider this headset if: you want headphones with a clear and clean tonal balance with good rendition of detail—even if that comes at the expense of somewhat light or bright sound.

A decent Utopia alternative for thinner wallets. Slightly warmer sound may be more pleasant for some. Common to both sets is the broad mid-range performance, expressing excellent vocal intelligibility and fine treble detail. This presentation is unforced though so, rather than pushing out a torrent of explicit in-your-face treble detail, they produce a hear-through quality, inviting you to look deep within your mix.

The positions are not set in stone. I’m only human; I may miss out on certain details or traits that may only be apparent with repeated listening. Expect changes. First off, the headphones are all plastic (save for the bit of metal on the outside of the ear cups) but the overall construction feels a bit cheap, flimsy, and creaky. Tonality is somewhat off with peaks and dips here and there, but overall not a bad sounding headphone. Tonally, a massive improvement over the previous version(s) though with the usual pitfalls of the Audeze house sound.

Yes, this is the opinion of one person on the internet. Please do not get too offended if your favourite headphone isn’t graded as highly as you’d like. (vice versa applies) Clean, open sound reminsicent of the HD800, with a bit of midbass bloat and upper midrange shoutiness. The overall sound is very good for the purpose of a monitor but if you want something a bit more fun, engaging, or intimate you had best look elsewhere. Shure SRH-440 HEADPHONES -CONCLUSION Seems inspired by the tuning of the SR-009 with some minor improvements, though not enough to call it "good".

Great tonality, sub-focused bass emphasis, bassy without being muddy. Average imaging and resolution.

Treble peak may offend some, but otherwise very well balanced and natural tonality with decent technicalities. The 440s also sound smooth from the mid-bass up to the lower midrange. Bass can sound slightly reticent, but most instruments have their fundamentals present and accounted for. Spicy sibilance and bloated bass are disappointments in what is otherwise an extremely dynamic headphone. An even darker HD6X0. A comparatively muffled mess just barely propped up by its decent resolving ability. Shure has released some updates to their classic studio staples, the SRH440 and SRH840. The new models have an "A" at the end.

Anothter pair of headphones with bass emphasis. Not overly bassy, though. But a bigger problem is treble, which is a little too polite to be neutral. I would not consider these headphones a good value. You’d be hard-pressed to find many people who haven’t at least heard of these in passing, though they don’t seem to be nearly as popular as they were a few years ago.

Without doubt, these are the best of the bunch. Perceived dynamic range is unbelievably wide. These are in a different league in terms of clarity as well---perhaps, the KNS 6400 is close but also with weaknesses (see above). Treble is sometimes a little on the bright side, but not as bright as the KNS6400's. Some people may find them bright with bright recordings, but the headphones should not be blamed for that. These produce very neutral and accurate sound. Bass is sufficient and often pleasantly strong in the mid- and upper bass regions, but deeper bass is not covered by these cans. Most music recordings do not contain this deep bass, anyway. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. Mostly neutral, slight bass lift, highly resolving and natural both in tone and timbre. The world's best headphone. The mid-range can sound a bit forward with certain recordings, but I think it mostly knows its place in the mix. Excellent dynamics with one of the best bass I've heard in a headphone, though the midrange can be a little harsh. The 440 does have a bit more treble and bass than the HD600, but by and large they are pretty similarly flat and even sounding.
